*Playing without ‘covid’ quarantined Maia Bouchier and Charlie Dean, ‘Vipers’’ Paige Scholfield found her form at the right time to make top score of the day (41*.)
*Batting first, ‘Lightning’ lost 3 wickets during their power-play (36/3). Firstly, opener Bethany Harmer was caught by Alice Monaghan off Tara Norris. Secondly, Lauren Bell struck twice, dismissing Sonia Odera (caught by Georgia Elwiss); also Lucy Higham (‘leg before.’) ‘Lightning’ were 59/3 by mid-way.
*Keeper Carla Rudd made 2 stumpings. Firstly stumping Abigail Freeborn (27 runs from 29 balls); also stumping Shachi Pai going down the wicket to Charlotte Taylor for a 3rd ball duck.
*Later Georgia Elwiss took skipper Kirstie Gordon’s (20 from 13) wicket, when caught by Georgia Adams
*Finally, Tara Norris took 2 wickets during her death over when Sophie Munro (5) was caught by Alice Monaghan and Ella Claridge (20) was clean bowled.
*’Vipers’ lost both openers by mid-way (59/2.) Top scorer Paige Scholfield 41*(from 36) partnered by Emily Windsor, scrambled mainly singles from the last three overs to keep up with the required-run-rate. Once scores were level, Paige Scholfield snatched a ‘single’ to win the match for ‘Vipers’ from the very last ball.
Result: ‘Southern Vipers’ 125/3 beat ‘Lightning’ 124/9 by 7 wickets
