Harlequins Women have announced the signing of centre Beth Blacklock from DMP Durham Sharks.
Blacklock, who is also capable of playing across the backline, joins the reigning Allianz Premier 15s champions looking to build on a positive start to her career.
Alongside playing at DMP Durham Sharks for the previous four seasons, the 23-year-old centre has also recently completed her master’s degree at Durham University.
The former England National Academy player has had past experience playing rugby in South West London competing in the 2019 BUCS Women’s Rugby Union Championship Final at Twickenham Stadium for her university side which she captained.
Speaking on her arrival, Blacklock said: “I’m really excited to be joining Harlequins Women. The conversations I’ve had with Gerard about the future of the Club and how he can develop me as a player is something I just can’t wait for!
“To be joining a team that has just won the Allianz Premier 15s title and where the team morale is really high is an amazing feeling.
“Whether in the short term or long term the main aim is to play international rugby and I feel Harlequins are the right club to help me achieve my ambitions and I just can’t wait to get going!”
Harlequins Women Head Coach Gerard Mullen is thrilled to welcome the centre to the club.
Mullen added: “Beth is someone we’ve been tracking for a while. She’s a very powerful and physical player as well as someone who has a strong passing, offloading and kicking game within her arsenal.
“She can cover multiple positions across the backline and I’m confident that we at Harlequins can develop her into a full England international. I’m sure she will have a big future at the club.”
