The Harlequins Foundation has today, Friday 1st September, launched an exciting grant-giving programme, which will celebrate and reward local organisations in Twickenham and Guildford who ensure their communities are happy, healthy and resilient.
Local community organisations located within a five-mile radius of the Twickenham Stoop and Harlequins’ training ground at Surrey Sports Park are invited to apply for a grant of between £500 and £3,000 to support their work within the local community during the next 12 months.
The application form can be downloaded here.
The focus of the charity, and/or project will need to be in line with the Harlequins Foundation’s aim of building brighter futures as well as the vision of the Sustainable Communities pillar; ensuring that local communities are happy, healthy and resilient, therefore improving the lives of local young people.
The Harlequins Foundation wants to enable local charities, community groups or schools to do something they couldn’t otherwise afford to do. This could include the provision of equipment for activities, improvements of facilities, individual or group trips, an event, or access to new or relevant opportunities.
Commenting on the announcement, Harlequins Head of Foundation, Victoria Hartley said: “Our local communities are very important to Harlequins and the Harlequins Foundation. From the launch of the Harlequins Foundation in 2015, it had always been our plan to develop a programme that could offer support to local organisations.
“Today, we are excited to launch the Brighter Futures Local Grants Programme which will enable community groups, charities and schools to apply to the Harlequins Foundation for grants to deliver projects in line with our aim and vision, ensuring our local communities are more sustainable and the young people within them are given the best opportunities.”
Applications will be accepted between Friday 1st September and Monday 30th October 2017. The applications will be reviewed by the Harlequins Foundation grants committee, against the criteria outlined in the application, and successful applicants will be contacted by Friday 10th November.
Members of the Harlequins Foundation Grants Committee include the Head of Foundation, Harlequins Foundation’s Fundraising Manager, a representative of the playing department, a senior Club Executive and a representative of the Harlequins Debenture Holders.
