Team Bath Netball’s Samantha Cook played a starring role as England retained the Netball Europe Open Championship title with wins against the other home nations over the weekend.
The defender, who enjoyed a strong finish to the Vitality Netball Superleague season after returning from injury, came off the bench to help England to an 83-32 victory over Northern Ireland in the opening match.
Cook then started the remaining two games and produced some outstanding intercepts as England beat Scotland 70-26 and Wales 81-42 to pick up the trophy once again.
“What a great group of girls to play alongside and a week I have thoroughly enjoyed!” Cook said on Instagram.
Team Bath team-mates Chelsea Lewis and Amanda Varey represented runners-up Wales at the tournament, staged at Sport Central in Newcastle, while Claire Brownie helped Scotland to third place.
The players will reflect on the 2016 season when the annual Team Bath Netball end-of-season dinner takes place on Sunday (May 22).
This year it is taking place at Somerset County Cricket Club in Taunton alongside the Netball South West Goalden Globes Awards. It runs from 11.30am to 4.30pm and tickets, which include a two-course buffet meal, are priced £25 for adults and £15 for under-16s. They are available to purchase from the netball section here.
