England Netball has announced that Tracey Neville has been appointed as the permanent head coach of the England Roses.
The former Manchester Thunder coach guided England to a bronze medal at the Netball World Cup in Australia last month, where they sealed third place with an emphatic 66-44 victory over Jamaica.
Speaking of her appointment, the ex-England shooter said “I am extremely proud to have been appointed as the England Roses head coach on a full-time basis. I look forward to implementing and developing a style of play that can take the Roses to the next level and to start competing in World finals.”
“The focus is now for England to become the best in the world and I am passionate that we reach this goal. I would like to thank Joanna Adams and Sara Symington for placing their faith in me to achieve this.”
England Netball CEO, Joanna Adams added “We are very pleased that Tracey has confirmed that she will stay on and lead England into our next four cycle, culminating in the 2019 World Cup to be staged on home soil in Liverpool.”
“The excellent result in clinching a bronze medal in Australia has set a platform on which we will aim to build upon in order to reach our target of becoming World Champions in four years’ time.”
“Tracey has a proven track record in the domestic game and has already started to translate this onto the international stage. The progress we have made in her short time at the helm demonstrates the potential for progress and, working alongside Sara Symington as Performance Director, we firmly believe that Tracey is the best person for the job.”
England are next in action during the three-match Vitality Netball International Series in January when we welcome the reigning World Champions, Australia.
