Women’s Rugby League Round Up – 5 July 2015

Leigh Miners hosted Featherstone Rovers at the weekend and the travelling side put on a dominant display to earn a 68-0 win. Leigh Miners battled till the end but Featherstone had the fire power to seal the win.

Kayleigh Bulman and Emily Rudge topped the try scoring for the afternoon with 3 apiece. Sinead Peach scored twice and there were further tries for Jas Rollin, Gemma Walsh, Amy Smith, Sarah Roper and Grace Field. Smith added further to her tally with 8 successful goals.

The high scoring theme continued with a 56-0 on the road win for Selby against West Craven Warriors.

Selby’s Georgia Cutt scored an impressive four tries and Laura Stanworth scored two. There was one try each for Meg Summers, Kelly Hall, Ash Hyde, Cairo Newby and Yas Copeland, Copeland also added 6 goals.

There was another big away win in the game between Oulton and Thatto Heath St Helens, Thatto carding a 62-0 win.

Naomi Williams and Alex Simpson both scored two tries each and there were further tries for Shannon Smith, Chantelle Crowl, Rachel Thompson, Tara Stanley, Sammi Simpson, Lizzie Gladman and Faye Gaskin. Rachel Thompson converted six times and Tara Stanley was on target with three.

The weekend ended with all away wins, the final of which saw Wigan St Patricks beat Brighouse Rangers 36-0.
