Earlier in the week newly promoted Sunderland inflicted a shock defeat on Champions Liverpool, today Birmingham held out Manchester City, despite having a player sent off just before half time. Last season’s runners up, Chelsea, in the other fixture today beat Notts County 2-1.
Bristol City were involved in the Champions League Quarter Final (losing their second leg match to Frankfurt who go through) and will play their outstanding fixture against Arsenal later in the season.
