Mo Marley names U19s Euro squad

Mo Marley has named an experienced England Women’s Under-19s squad for next month’s European Championship qualifiers in Northern Ireland.

Nine of the 18-strong panel played for this age group at last season’s Euro finals in Norway, while Leah Williamson, Katie Zelem and Natasha Flint went to Canada for the FIFA Women’s U20 World Cup.

All 18 players featured in the La Manga Tournament earlier this month, where England defeated Italy and Denmark and drew 0-0 with Sweden.

The Young Lions open their qualifying campaign against Norway on Saturday 4 April. They will then take on Northern Ireland, the host nation, on Monday 6 April and finish up against Switzerland on Thursday 9 April. All three matches will be played in Belfast.

The top-placed team in the round-robin group will qualify for this summer’s finals which will be staged in Israel in July.

Marley led the U19s to Euro glory in Belarus in 2009. That successful squad contained six members of the current senior set-up; Lucy Bronze, Gemma Bonner, Demi Stokes, Jordan Nobbs, Jade Moore and Toni Duggan.

Defenders: Gabrielle George (Everton), Ellie Stewart (Everton), Molly Bartrip (Reading), Vyan Sampson (Arsenal), Ashleigh Mills (Doncaster Rovers Belles), Eloise Wilson (Reading)

Midfielders: Keira Walsh (Manchester City), Katie Zelem (Liverpool), Jenna Dear (Chelsea), Jodie Brett (Chelsea), Leah Williamson (Arsenal)

Forwards: Mollie Green (Liverpool), Sarah Mayling (Aston Villa), Natasha Flint (Manchester City), Claudia Walker (Everton), Carla Humphrey (Arsenal).
