Yeovil Town were knocked out of the FA Womens Cup by fellow WSL2 side Aston Villa thanks to a second half extra time winner from substitute Katie Wilkinson.
After an even start to the game with very few chances, it was Yorston who had the first real effort on goal, as her free kick troubled Myers in the Villa goal, who saved at the second attempt. And the pressure continued, with Myers again busy, punching a dangerous Curson cross to safety and then Myers tipping another cross over the bar, back peddling this time from a Yorston cross.
In the 24th minute, Yeovil had a penalty decision turned down, resulting in a scuffle between three players, with Curson, Owen and McCue all getting yellow cards before Robinson later received a yellow card for a wreck-less challenge on Heatherson.
Against the run of play, Villa opened the scoring when a clearance from Yeovil was sliced into the air with the resulting header not dealt with well, only for the ball to drop to Olivia Ferguson who finished with great force, hitting the back of net.
Villa added more pressure to the Yeovil defense and Kerri Welsh almost doubled the lead, which Haynes with the help of the post managed to keep out.
Stewart almost equalized before half time, but her looping shot went just over.
Yeovil started the second half brightly and a good move down the left was crossed by Yorston and Curson’s shot was turned away for a corner and then another good move, this time involving Heatherson and substitute Payol, saw Payol’s shot saved.
With Villa pegged back in their half and defending a number of corners, it was only a matter of time until a goal was to come and a wicked delivery by Yorston, was met well by Haigh who headed home to bring the scores level in the 85th minute.
With the game now going to extra time, Villa played their direct game and Haynes was brought into action saving excellently down low to her right. But Yeovil looked like they were going to take the lead in the 100th minute, when Curson was found in space on the edge of the box by a weighted pass and her curling first time shot was going into the top corner, but the finger tips of Myers pushed it to the safe side of the post.
Villa thought they got the winner just inside the second half of extra time, when Haynes tipped a header on to the cross bar which was headed into the back of the net, only for the assistants flag to go up for offside.
But the winner came with 8 minutes left on the clock from a free kick by substitute Katie Wilkinson, after a foul centrally on the semi circle of the penalty box.
Villa now find themselves in the hat for the 5th Round, with the draw being made on Monday.
