  • +1

The Blaze (women) vs Warwickshire (women) – match 19 – League One – at Trent Bridge, Nottingham, on Wednesday  29 April 2026

Midlands derby full of  ‘high quality entertainment,’ that went down to the wire. Finely poised between Blaze reaching their target score; or Bears losing their final wicket. Maiden ‘ton’ from Charis Pavely – pictured[128runs (from 102 balls)] partnered by Katie George 98(86) posted Bears’ record fourth-wicket partnership of 197. Separately, Charis Pavely bagged career-best ’List A’ score; and was also best Bears’ bowler, taking two wickets plus one catch. By comparison, Blaze replied with double-figure partnerships, three of which extended beyond ‘fifty.’ Opener Marie Kelly 79(94) made top-score, with Ireland International Orla Prendergast 56(30) scoring a decisive match-winning ‘fifty.’ With tied scores, the match reached its climax during the final over when Blaze skipper Kirstie Gordon steepled a ‘top-edge’ into oblivion. An opportunistic ’single’ handed victory to the hosts, just as the ball was coming down, but the potential catch was dropped. Post-match, Charis Pavely told reporters it was ‘nice to contribute,’ even lthough Bears didn’t win. Commentator: resident broadcaster Melinda ‘Mel’ Farrell with guest ’Charlie.’ Weather: fine and sunny with stiff wind 17C.
