Essex (women) vs Warwickshire Bears (women) – match 9 – League One – at Ambassador Cruise Line Ground, Chelmsford on Saturday 18 April 2026
Warwickshire Bears women bagged their first win-of-the-season. Last season was one win apiece. Seeking their first win this season, Essex women came on the back of two defeats, losing out to Surrey & Hants. Bears also lost to Surrey and had one match washed-out. On the day, commentators felt that Bears women ‘worked hard’ for their win from a low-scoring match where the majority of balls bowled were unplayable ‘dots’ (Essex women 60%; vs 50%.) Batting first, Essex skipper Grace Scrivens was the only batter to score ‘fifty’ [59 runs (from 88 balls).] Five Bears bowlers took two wickets each. Turning to Bears’ reply, opener Davina Perrin made top-score 43(59). Decisively, Katie George [42*not out(71)] – pictured – formed two key partnerships that were pivotal to Bears women’s victory, albeit Bears just missing out on a bonus point. Fifty-two added with Charis Pavely was followed by 36 with Em Arlott: that took Bears across-the-line. Resident home-team commentators for Essex Live Stream were Guy Swindells with Danni Warren (Performance & Growth Director, Essex Women’s Cricket.) Weather was described as ‘glorious’ for cricket: sunny, around 15C.
