Vitality Blast women T20 – league one, match 13

  • +1

Hampshire Hawks women vs Durham Cricket women (match 13 league one) at Arundel Castle Cricket Club on Saturday, 7 June 2025 (14h30)

Durham Cricket’s long journey to play Hawks proved worthwhile as the visitors were awarded victory by 1 run. Hawks won the previous north-south derby by seven wickets on the same ground at fifty overs on 7 May (Metro Bank One-Day Cup – league one match 18) Top-scorer was Suzie Bates [34 runs (from 33 balls)] who scored four ‘fours.’ Surviving a vociferous ‘leg-before’ appeal, Bess Heath [29*not out(24)] saw through Durham Cricket’s innings with second-highest score of the day. Knowing that a result would be declared once more than five overs were played by either side, Maia Bouchier [22*not out(21)] partnered by Freya Kemp hit Hawks five-overs target, and (later told the writer she’d) fully expected to resume her innings beyond six overs; once play restarted. Instead, a pattern of pitch inspections followed by immediate downpours used-up an hour’s adverse weather contingency. At that point it became clear that Umpires had no appetite to continue as adverse weather had decided the outcome; bringing the match to a premature end. Inclement weather Wet 15C
