The Blaze Women vs Lancashire Women at Nottingham, Trent Bridge on Wednesday 23 April 2025 (10h30)
Top-tier of the women’s domestic season got under way with a resounding win by Lancashire, who chased down The Blaze’s half-decent score. England Head Women’s coach Charlotte Edwards was looking-on. The Blaze forged one big batting partnership between Kathryn Bryce and Georgia Elwiss that banked 82 runs. The pair’s combined scores were later exceeded by Emma Lamb’s mammoth reply, riding her luck from three dropped catches, [scoring 130 runs *not out(from 140 balls).] Emma Lamb passed her ‘fifty’ partnered by Australian Katie MacK and passed her fifth ‘A-list’ ton’ partnered by Seren Smale. With scores tied, Emma Lamb hit the winning ’single.’ Before the match, Georgia Elwiss received her cap from injured skipper Kirstie Gordon, Elwiss marking her return to the Midlands, after five years playing for Vipers – please see video link below. Commentators included Sam Dalling (Sports journalist) with James Carr. Floodlights were illuminated approaching half-way, during play before the interval between each innings. Weather was overcast and grey 12C.
