Jennie Powell. 22 Nov 2025

Peter Mannifield. 22 Nov 2025

Thanks for the above Jennie... Assuming -squad sizes of 30???, -Internationally capped players are remunerated by their respective unions, and -no limits on how many Red Roses, for instance, can be signed by 1 club.. I think the Cap will only have a very limited affect [and is so far below £ wise what the men get per head as to be embarrassing]

Jennie Powell. 22 Nov 2025

I found this on the England Rugby website whether it is effective or not is another matter: The Remuneration Cap 6. The Remuneration Cap for the 2024-25 Season is £220,000 and means the maximum total Gross Payments, subject to any Excluded Remuneration, made directly or indirectly by or on behalf of the Club or a Connected Party to Players during or in respect of the Remuneration Cap Year (and the term “Remuneration Cap” shall be construed accordingly). 7. Clubs must not exceed the Remuneration Cap and these Regulations shall apply to any Club that exceeds the Remuneration Cap. 8. When calculating what is included within the Remuneration Cap, the Club must apply the definition of Remuneration (as set out in Appendix 2) save that Excluded Remuneration (as set out in Appendix 3) is not included within a Club’s Remuneration for the purposes of the Remuneration Cap. 9. In respect of Excluded Remuneration, the Club must adhere to the respective provisions of the Remuneration Cap Regulations (set out in Appendix 3) and Premier Women’s Rugby Limited may in its absolute discretion require the Club to supply all such information, documents and assurances to evidence and justify why such Remuneration falls within the definition of Excluded Remuneration. If a Club fails to satisfy Premier Women’s Rugby Limited that such Remuneration is Excluded Remuneration, the value of the purported Excluded Remuneration (or a proportion thereof) as determined by Premier Women’s Rugby Limited will be included in the Remuneration Cap and any such decision will be final and binding upon the Club.

Jennie Powell. 22 Nov 2025

Good question I'll try and find out.

Peter Mannifield. 21 Nov 2025

Is there a Salary Cap in place for each club in the PWR? If not, could it be introduced as a means to try and level the playing field for all clubs?

Ian Batty. 19 Nov 2025

As a G-H season ticket holder, I don't think that we have a sense a 'self-satisfaction'. Sure, there's pride in the results over the past 3 seasons, but the fact that Jango convinced the Gloucester board to invest is a reflection on a) his business talents b) their long term view. Since then, as Karl states, there have been very few signings (Kate Williams is one of the few) but there is an extremely good pathway. However, Chiefs have the same with Exeter Uni, Lightning have the same with Loughborough and both of those universities are generally more high prestige and held in wider regard than Hartpury. And as for 'certainty that the club will walk off with a 4th title' I simply ask you to look at how good Chiefs looked in the 1st half of last season. A few injuries (e.g. Mo and Al) and G-H will be a wholly different proposition. So, no, there is no 'certainty' but there is pride in the G-H supporters for their club, appreciation of the hard work the women put in and enjoyment of the success.

Bruce Perkins. 18 Nov 2025

I did not base my verdict on one comment but can't fit every piece of evidence into a single piece. G-H have the immeasurable advantage of the unique college (school + university in one) that attracts top talent. Fine.. But if you care to read through all the comments made by G-H fans, you may understand my point.

Karl. 18 Nov 2025

Judging GH's "set-up" on one fan's comment is pretty pathetic. A lot of people are new to the Womens' game so will take time to learn about players etc. As for money, GH invested 2021-2022 in a few forwards, some of whom without clubs, as they went out of business (if you recall)...no major signings since, nearly all originals & newbies from their Uni pathway, nearly all available for England or Wales. Wasn't it 10+ of the Roses in that final that originated in that pathway? 4 that been at GH for years, 24 in the World Cup (all from these Isles). Looks like a pretty good "set up" to me.

Ian. 11 Nov 2025

Don't be anointing G-H just yet- they've got pretty much all their big players available. Trailfinders are going to get better as their players learn each others names, Sarries look better each week and Quins are missing some big names too. Remember what Exeter looked like at Xmas last season? A few key injuries to G-H and the Quad Queens will be far from favourites
