On Sunday in the Women’s Top Super Six Featherstone Rovers welcomed Thatto Heath St Helens and the match proved to be a real nail biter ending in a 22-22 draw.

Thatto Heath raced into an early lead scoring three tries through Sammi Simpson, Jodie Cunningham and Tara Stanley, who also added one conversion to give them a 14-0 lead. Featherstone then found their feet in the game and took a 16-14 lead with tries from Sarah Dunn, Kayleigh Bulman and Natalie Gilmour, who also converted two of the tries.

Emily Rudge and Jodie Cunningham both then scored for Thatto to give a 22-16 lead but the game was far from over. In the closing stages Featherstone’s Jasmine Hazel went over for a try and Natalie Gilmour kept a cool head to add the conversion and level the scores at the final whistle 22-22.

Wigan St Patricks were at home to Stanningley this weekend and it was another draw with both sides sharing the spoils 14-14.

Leigh Miners Rangers hosted Oulton Raidettes and the home side emerged with a 20-14 win.

Leigh Miners Georgia Sutherland scored two tries and there were further tries for Rachel Ogden and Celia Farrimond. Emily Mullen added two conversions.

Oulton Raidettes Kath Redpath scored two tries and Danielle Anderson scored one, Regan Walker added one goal to complete the scoring.

Women’s Weekly Round up 4th September by Rebecca Bird

On Sunday Stanningley Ladies hosted Bradford Bulls Women and it was Bradford who battled to a 48-34 win.

Bradford’s Jess Courtman scored four tries and there were three tries from Amy Hardcastle. Savannah Andraid and Shona Hoyley both scored one each and Claire Garner added six goals.

Stanningley’s tries were scored by Sophie Robinson, Emily Johnson, Tasha Gaines, Sarah Lovejoy and Rachel Barker, Tasha Gaines also added five goals.

Also in the Womens Super Six Featherstone Rovers were at home to Wigan St Patricks and the home side emerged with a 40-10 win.

Featherstone’s Sarah Dunn scored three tries and Sinaed Peach scored two, there was also tries for Katie Lyons and Natalie Gilmour, with Gilmour also adding six goals.

Wigan’s tries were scored by Emma Dwyer and Holly Speakman with Sarah Harrison adding one goal.

Women’s Weekly Round up 3rd July by Rebecca Bird

On Sunday, in the Women’s Super Six League, Stanningley Ladies hosted Wigan St Patricks and in a hard fought encounter it was Stanningley who just had the edge to card a 26-22 win.  

Stanningley’s Emma Johnson, Sophie Robinson, Rachel Barker, Heather McDonald and Sarah Lovejoy all crossed for a try, Tasha Gaines added three goals.

For Wigan Sarah Harrison scored twice with further tries for Holly Speakman and Becky Blackburn.

Thatto Heath St Helens welcomed Featherstone Rovers and the home side impressed with a 42-0 win. Thatto’s Tara Stanley, Rachel Thompson, Jenny Welsby, Faye Gaskin, Roxy Mura, Katie Williams, Emily Rudge and Lizzie Gladman all crossed for a try each and Faye Gaskin added five goals to complete the scoring.

Thatto’s Heath’s Tara Jones was awarded the player of the match for the home side and Jess Hammond was given the nod for Featherstone.

Bradford Bulls women travelled away to Normanton Knights and it was Bradford who emerged with a 68-10 victory.

In the other Super Six League Oulton Raidettes hosted Leigh Miners Rangers and Oulton won out 22-14.

Oulton’s Danielle Anderson and Abigail Burton both scored two tries each with Reagan Walker converting two and Abigail Burton adding one. Leigh Miners try scorers were Serina Tamou, Rachel Ogden and Devon Rigby with Emily Mullen adding one goal.

Oulton’s player of the match award went to Abigail Burton and Leigh Miners Serina Tamou was her team’s player of the match.

Women’s Weekly Rugby League Round up 5th June by Rebecca Bird

On Sunday in the Women’s Super Six Stanningley Ladies hosted Thatto Heath St Helens and it was the travelling side who earned an impressive 74-0 win. Thatto’s Tara Stanley led the charge with four tries and Jodie Cunningham scored twice. There were further tries for Rachel Thompson, Dawn Taylor, Roxy Mura, Faye Gaskin, Katie Williams, Jade Ward and Sammi Simpson. Tara Stanley added further to her points tally with nine goals.

The player of the match for Thatto went to Jodie Cunningham and for Stanningley Shannon Lacey got the award.

Bradford Bulls Women welcomed Wigan St Patricks and it was the home side who emerged with an 80-4 win. Bradford’s Amy Hardcastle scored an impressive five tries, and there were two tries each for Charlene Hennegan, Dani Bose, Rhiannon Marshall and Shona Hoyle. Jess Courtman and Lois Forsell both scored one each. Lisa Taylor added four goals to complete the scoring for Bradford.

Wigan’s try was scored by Joenie Aspin.

Oulton Raidettes welcomed Brighouse and the home side scored an empathic 118-0 win with eleven different players getting on the score sheet. Abi Burton and Raegan Walker both scored four tries each, Leigh Powell scored three and Tracey Addey and Dan Anderson scored two each. There were further tries for Nat Binks, Steph Geldard, Kath Brough, Kelly Aitken, Amie Backhouse and Ellen Strafford. Abi Burton landed six goals and Raegan Walker scored eleven goals.

Selby Warriors hosted Leigh Miners and it was the away side who won out 30-16.
