Hincks put in a number of standout performances in Millwall’s first four FA WSL 2 games of the season. Notably, a late leveler rescued a point against Doncaster Rovers, before two decisive goals against Brighton & Hove Albion and London Bees made the difference in narrow wins to keep Millwall at the top of the FA WSL 2 table in October.

Hincks fought off some tough competition in a shortlist including Durham’s Beth Hepple, and Sheffield striker, Melissa Johnson who both narrowly missed out on the accolade. Hepple led from Durham’s midfield scoring four goals in their first four league games, with the side now looking serious title contenders. Johnson, who has linked up excellently with her teammates this season, was a key figure in the Sheffield side putting in a number of standout performances.

The FA WSL Player of the Month award celebrates the best players in FA WSL 1 and FA WSL 2. Each month, three players will be shortlisted based on their league performances before a media panel selects a winner for each league.

Launched as a summer league in 2011 with eight teams, the FA WSL is now in its seventh season. In 2014, a second division, FA WSL 2, was created as the league grew which has led to 20 teams, 10 per league, now competing in FA WSL 1 and 2 for the 2017/18 season.

Presented with the FA WSL 2 Player of the Month award, Ashlee Hincks said: “I feel I have performed well, as a forward it’s always important to hit the ground running with goals and the goals I have scored so far have delivered vital points in games to either get us one or three points. Saying that, it’s a credit to the whole team, I don’t get the chances to score if everyone else isn’t performing.”

With the Lady Glovers attendances on a big increase and exposure to the women’s game increasing all the time, it is hoped that Huish Park will welcome in excess of 1000 fans to the game to support local Women’s elite football, which comes off the back of a recent superb World Cup campaign for the England Women team.

This will be the first time that Huish Park has hosted a female game since the fixture back in 2013 when Leeds Utd played in an FA Women’s Cup game, which saw just over 600 fans in attendance. But with an excellent first half of the season in the FAWSL, manager Jamie Sherwood is hoping that a large following will come along and support his team on 19th July, in their first game since the mid-season and World Cup break.

Sherwood said “We have had a terrific first half of the season, but our next run of games are crucial to us and they are huge matches and if we want to progress further, we will have to be at our best. The players will be absolutely buzzing to be able to play at Huish Park and they will do all they can to ensure that their performance on the pitch, is a return on the amount of energy and support given from the fans.”

“Millwall will be a tough test, but I’m positive that with the support of the whole region, this will enable us to get the points we require in order to put on a real push for promotion.”

“Our ladies are big supporters of the men’s team, and we know the men’s team are big supporters to the Ladies too and the opportunity for us to showcase Women’s Elite football at Huish Park, shows the ‘One Club’ philosophy in order in Achieve By Unity. The players will wear their green and white shirts with pride and will give no less than 100%.”

Yeovil Town Ladies Chairman Steve Allinson said “I am very grateful to John Fry and his Board of Directors for giving us the opportunity to play this game at Huish Park and we are all looking forward to an opportunity to showcase the women’s game, which has captured the imagination of so many through the recent performances of our England team in the Women’s World Cup.”

The game kicks off at 2.00pm, with the turnstiles opening at 12.30pm. There is an opportunity for fans to purchase a pre-match Carvery, which is served from 1.00pm inside the conference centre.
