Lancashire (women) vs Durham Cricket (women) – match 63, League One – at Old Trafford Cricket Ground, Manchester on Sunday 06 September 2026
Rain-affected northern derby said to keep the defending champions’ qualification hopes alive, at the expense of their opponents who were ‘knocked-out.’ Following delayed start (12h30) with twelve overs docked from each innings, Red Rose posted only nine ‘fours.’ Durham Cricket womens’ skipper Hollie Armitage [54runs (misreported elsewhere as 55)] partnered by Bess Heath 43(48) posted 71 runs for DC’s fourth-wicket, to nudge their team toward a decisive final over. Bowling in her final home match, retiring seamer Kate Cross staged a ‘late fight-back’ to successfully defend eight runs and win by three. Commentators for Lancs TV Live Stream were Michael ‘Mike’ Perkins (Sports Journalist); with Allyson Byrne (Women’s Cricket Chat, ex Lancs & Cheshire women.) Weather: ‘ominous’ rain-bearing clouds and damp outfield adversely affecting play 15-17C.
