Harlequins Women have confirmed that Ella Cromack will captain the side for the JAECOO PWR Next Gen Cup.

Having made her 50th appearance for the Club last season against Leicester Tigers, Cromack has become a key part of the squad, despite being just 21 years old.

Cromack will lead the side for all JAECOO PWR Next Gen Cup matches, starting with a home encounter with Gloucester-Hartpury on 19th September.

Having come through the ranks at Reading RFC, Cromack has excelled since making her Harlequins debut in September 2023 against Saracens Women.

Last season, she was the Club’s top points scorer in all competitions, scoring 143 points across 21 appearances.

Speaking after being announced, Cromack said: “I’m super grateful to be able to captain the girls for the Cup games. There is a lot of exciting talent coming through, so I’m really looking forward to leading the side.”

“I got a phone call from Ross in the off-season. I was actually on holiday in Morocco when he phoned me, so it was a bit of a shock! I’ve spoken to Aoife and Jade a couple of times to get some advice from them. I want to be someone who leads by example on and off the pitch, so that’s what I’m going to try to do with every action throughout this period.”

Head Coach Ross Chisholm added: “I’m really pleased to confirm Ella as captain for the JAECOO PWR Next Gen Cup. She is already a real leader in our squad, having made her 50th appearance for the Club last season. Despite still being a young player, she plays and leads with maturity beyond her years, both on and off the pitch.”

“Alongside our wider leadership group for the cup, Ella is one of a number of young players we have identified as having the potential to be superb leaders for Harlequins in the coming years. I have no doubt that she will flourish in this role and excel at leading our cup squad.”

With thanks to Harlequins
