‘Metro Bank’ One Day Cup League One  – (match 56)

  • +1

Yorkshire (White Rose) (women) vs Surrey (women)  – match 56 – League One – at Ampleforth College, North Yorkshire on Wednesday 26 August 2026

Surrey women batters always looked confident to win their run-chase, beefed-up by England returners. As was mentioned previously, White Rose women continue to struggle against spin bowling: (A) Suné Luus (guest South African) taking 3 wickets / conceding 33 runs; with (B) Tilly Corteen-Coleman 2/33 taking another two wickets. White Rose were bowled-out prematurely for 171. In contrast, without scoreboard pressure, Kira Chathli – pictured [66 runs (from 75 balls)] played anchor making top-score for Surrey women, who looked forward to an early result, lost several batters known for their relatively high strike-rates. That explained why their aggregated winning strike-rate was lower. Separately, Surrey women seem more likely to compete for a semi-final/eliminator place; whereas White Rose’s first season as ‘league-one’ professionals has been disappointing with eight losses-to-date. Without commentary. Weather: mainly overcast with sunny spells and noticeable breeze 16-18C.
