Vitality Blast women T20 – league one, match 49

  • +1
The Blaze (women) vs Somerset (women)  (match 49, league one – ‘double-header’ fixture) at Trent Bridge Nottingham on 10 July 2026

‘Clinical’ performance by The Blaze women, who were determined to clinch victory to qualify for ‘Finals Day’ at ‘The Kia Oval’ on 17 July. Batting first, Somerset womens’ four best batters were sent back to their ‘dug-out’ on 47/4. All seven Blaze bowlers went on to take at least one wicket each leaving Somerset women short of a defendable score. Between innings, commentators expressed sympathy for Somerset – edged-out with one match remaining. Batting for The Blaze, Charli Knott [63*not out (from 43 balls) partnered by Sarah Bryce 29(43); added 87 runs for Blaze’s womens’ third-wicket. That ‘took the game away’ from Somerset women, whose skipper Sophie Luff had scored a competition total of 388 runs – 4th highest-to-date. Commentator added that the result was ‘never in doubt’ as The Blaze clinched a ‘home team’ victory bagging a valuable bonus-point. Commentator for The Blaze at Trent Bridge Livestream TV was Dave Bracegirdle (BBC Sports Xtra3 & Radio Nottingham) with guest Kiel van Vollenhoven (WollatonCC, Notts.) Weather: heat wave: 22C rising to ‘sweltering’ 32C by mid-afternoon.
