‘Metro Bank’ One Day Cup League One  – (match 6)

  • +1

Surrey (women) vs Yorkshire (women) – match 6 – League One – at the Kia Oval, South London on Wednesday  15 April 2026

Surrey women maintained an unbeaten record in an extraordinary match that was far from what seemed like a convincing win. Both teams started well and equally suffered ‘spectacular’ collapse.  Surrey’s ‘spinners’ were ‘just too good’ for Yorks women’s tail-enders. Yorkshire women’s last four wickets fell for no runs. Surrey women ‘came back hard’ after their rain interruption, with just short of a century partnership between top-scorer Paige Scholfield – pictured [89 runs (from 42 balls] and Alice Monaghan 22(28.) Commentators complemented Paige Scholfield not only for playing a ‘scintillating batting masterclass’ with 17 ‘fours’ and two ’sixes;’ but also for her ‘technical ability’ to find the gaps. Earlier, the match was marred by the Yorks womens skipper’s dismissal that commentators stressed was not about Umpires’ decision, but for the player’s reaction afterwards – with five penalty points awarded to Surrey. Commentators for Surrey Cricket social media were Daniel Norcross, Mark Church, Cameron Ponsonby, Phil Walker and Yas Rana. Weather: overcast with occasional rain interruption 12-14C
