‘Metro Bank’ One Day Cup League One  – (match 3)

  • +1

Somerset (women) vs Yorkshire (women)  – match 3 – League One – at The Cooper Associates County Ground, Taunton on Saturday 11 April 2026

Somerset women pulled-off an ‘incredible win’ in a low-scoring thriller, marking the occasion that Yorks women played their inaugural ‘league-one’ match.  Interviewed post-match, Somerset women’s skipper Sophie Luff – pictured – was uncertain whether bowlers had ‘done enough’ when bowling out Yorks women for a relatively low score. Somerset bowlers Alex Griffiths [4/22] and Chloe Skelton [4/42] were mentioned, having ’stepped-up’ to take four wickets each. Commentator Ed Seabourne felt that Somerset women were facing a ‘tricky position’ during the 29th over on 115/8, when debutante Laura Harris came to the crease to face fellow Australian Jess Jonassen. Undoubtedly Sophie Luff 76(101) played her best ever innings, scoring two fours from the same over to level the scores; and snatched another ’single’ to win the match – with two overs to spare. Ed ‘cricket’ Seabourne (BBC Radios Bristol & Glos) was accompanied on commentary by Mollie Robbins (player, Somerset women.) Weather: Breezy with brief rain interruptions and floodlights switched on-and-off for bad light. 14C
