Head coach LJ Lewis and assistant coach Sarah McKenna have selected their 34-player squad for this week’s England U21 Women’s development camp in Bristol.
The three-day training block at Shaftesbury Park, home of Dings Crusaders RFC and Bristol Bears Women, commences today in preparation for the upcoming Six Nations Women’s U21 Series this spring.
Saracens’ Amelia MacDougall links up with the side for her first U21 Women’s camp of the season, with Millie Hyett, Grace Keel, Sophie McQueen and Solana Shaw de Leon recalled for their first camp since December.
Current England U18 international Honey Kerslake is invited into her first U21 camp, alongside Alice Bennett and previously capped England U18 players Lauren Bailey, Josephine Harris and Jo Vosakiwaiwai for their maiden U21 involvements.
Lewis and McKenna will be supported with coaching from across the Women’s Pathway, including Louis Deacon, Jo Yapp and James Cooper.
England U21 Women will host Canada U21 Women for a behind-closed-doors, opposed training session at Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre on Wednesday 25th March. Information on further England U21 Women’s warm-up fixtures for the Six Nations will be communicated in due course.
Sarah McKenna said: “This is our final camp together before the spring fixture block, so the focus is on maintaining intensity in every session. We want to put players under pressure that reflects the demands of the games ahead, while continuing to build clarity around our pathway DNA.
“With those fixtures now within touching distance, there’s a real sense of excitement in the group. Each time we come together, that energy strengthens bonds and deepens the trust and understanding across the squad.
“That trust gives players the confidence to make courageous choices and win moments on the pitch. They’ve led themselves exceptionally well so far and have given themselves every opportunity to turn their preparation into performances the women’s pathway and our Red Roses supporters can be proud of.”
Tickets to England’s Six Nations Women’s U21 Series home fixtures against Ireland and France are available now.
