The Hundred Trophy 2024  – match 16 – Superchargers vs Originals

  • +1

Northern Superchargers vs Manchester Originals at Leeds (Headingley) on 4 August 2024

Reporters felt that traditional ‘Roses’ derby rivalry was missing, that resulted in a one-sided match that  Superchargers won ‘in style.’ Fastest strike-rates by Australian internationals Annabel Sutherland and Phoebe Litchfield ensured that 2nd-placed Superchargers came away with a ‘comprehensive win.’ Receiving POTM ‘Meerkat match hero’ cap-and-medal from Dominic Cork, Litchfield said that Superchargers expected to make around 140 ‘on a good wicket,’ and knew their bowling attack had ‘defended lower scores.’ Commentators said they did that ‘comprehensively.’ When interviewed as winning skipper, Hollie Armitage added humorously, that Annabel Sutherland needed ‘a new suitcase’ to take home her growing collection of ‘match hero’ awards. Introduced by Mark Butcher (broadcaster & former England international) with Lydia Greenway OBE (broadcaster & former England international), Dominic Cork (Head Coach at Derbyshire Falcons & former England international), James ‘Jimmy Anderson OBE (Fast-bowling mentor and former England international) Also with Ebony Rainford Brent MBE (broadcaster & former England international – director Women’s cricket at Surrey) & Simon Doull (NZ broadcaster & former NZ international), who arrived later. Opening guest appearance from Kate Cross (Superchargers.) Weather: hot and humid with grey cloud-cover 25C.
