England Women earn IT20 series win over India

England Women secured an IT20 series victory against India, winning by four wickets at Wankhede Stadium.

Heather Knight made one change to the side who won the opening IT20 on Wednesday, Charlie Dean coming in for Mahika Gaur.

Player of the match Dean opened the bowling and made an instant impact, taking a wicket with her second ball, dismissing Shafali Verma and finished 2-16.

Nat Sciver-Brunt bowled India captain Harmanpreet Kaur while Sophie Ecclestone, Sarah Glenn and Lauren Bell finished with two wickets apiece and Freya Kemp struck meaning India were bowled out for 80 in 16.2 overs.

In the second innings, England openers Danni Wyatt and Sophia Dunkley were dismissed by Renuka Singh Thakur to leave England 19-2.

New batting partnership Sciver-Brunt and Alice Capsey contributed to the chase with a combined total of 41.

England lost six wickets against a spirited India before winning inside 11.2 overs.

Knight’s outfit return to action tomorrow (Sunday 10 December) where they take on India in their final IT20 series match.
