The shortlist for the 2023 TikTok Women’s Six Nations Player of The Championship has been revealed, with four standout names from this year’s Championship making the final set of nominees.
Red Roses duo, and Grand Slam winners Marlie Packer and Holly Aitchison have been named on the shortlist, based on fan votes that contributed to the Team of The Championship.
England captain and back row, Marlie Packer, was a force of nature throughout the Championship, earning plaudits for her talismanic leadership that drove England to another Six Nations title, with Packer picking up seven tries, seven crucial turnovers, and 71 carries in the process. Aitchison swapped her centre position for the number ten jersey for this year’s Championship and looked immediately at home, conducting her side through five scintillating rounds, and delivering six try assists in the Championship.
Joining the two Red Roses on the shortlist, is France centre Gabrielle Vernier, who was a constant threat in defence as much as attack. Vernier was not far behind Packer in the try scoring stakes, claiming five across as many rounds.
Completing the Player of The Championship shortlist is one of the standout players of this year’s competition, and still only 19 years old. Wales prop Sisilia Tuipulotu dominated headlines from the outset, forming a cornerstone of a dominant front row, and going on to score four tries in the Championship. Wales climbed to their highest ever World Rugby rankings, following their third-place finish in this year’s Women’s Six Nations, and with the likes of Sisilia Tuipulotu in their ranks, are going to prove a stern challenge for any side in years to come.
Fans have been asked to vote for their TikTok Women’s Six Nations Team of The Championship, with votes going towards identifying this year’s shortlist for the TikTok Player of The Championship. With voting now closed for the starting XV, it is now in the hands of fans to vote for their Player of The Championship.
Voting is open, across Women’s Six Nations social and digital channels, as of Wednesday 3rd May, and closes at 17:00 (GMT) on Monday 8th May.
The TikTok Women’s Six Nations Team and Player of The Championship will be announced when all votes have been counted.
