With a World Cup on the horizon, attention turns to the Allianz Cup. Wasps start their Allianz Cup campaign at home to Loughborough Lightning at Twyford Avenue. The Cup presents an opportunity for new Head Coach LJ Lewis to trial her summer signings.
LJ Lewis has named her squad which includes eight new signings in the form of Lenaig Corson, Alana Bainbridge, Caitlin Simpson, Fiona Cooper, Molly Saunders, Amy Layzell, Polly Roberts, Ellie Lennon, Shya Pinnock and the return to the squad of Georgia Wood and Sydney Mead. All looking to make their mark in a Wasps jersey.
Led by new captain Elizabeth Crake there is a new look to the squad ahead of our first fixture in this year’s Allianz Cup. The Starting XV presents a debut for Alana Bainbridge at hooker in between captain Elizabeth Crake and Mica Evans, an experienced row of Rowena Burnfield and Mel Combebias and they are bolstered by a powerful back row comprising Fiona Cooper, Helene Caux and Lenaig Corson.
The Backs are full of familiar faces and new acquaintances, half-back pairing of Alex Wilkinson and Flo Williams return from the end of last season. Ellie Lennon and Molly Saunders fill the centre shirts with the back line being completed with Polly Roberts, Amy Layzell, and Suzie Flowers.
