England Women Sevens to play intersquad matches at London 7s

  • +1

The England Women Sevens squad will play intersquad exhibition matches at this year’s London 7s (28-29 May, Twickenham Stadium).
The squad will be made up of core sevens players as well as those who have stood out in the Allianz Premier 15s throughout the 2021/22 campaign. A squad list will be announced next week ahead of the event.

The teams will play three matches across the weekend.

London follows the sevens’ participation in the Toulouse leg of the World Series (20-22 May) and will act as key preparation for the home Commonwealth Games taking place in Birmingham this summer.

Charlie Hayter, head of women’s and sevens performance said: “We’re delighted to announce that our women’s sevens squad will play at London this year.

“The opportunity to play and perform in front of a passionate Twickenham crowd ahead of a home Commonwealth Games is essential for preparation.

“With this being the first London leg since 2019 due to the pandemic, it’s sure to be a celebratory occasion and all players and staff are looking forward to the event.”

Tickets for London 7s are available here.
