Remarkably, both Skippers made top score: Bryony Smith hitting 84 versus Kathryn Bryce’s 87. Bryony Smith went one better by taking three wickets – dismissing two tail-enders during the penultimate over. ‘Lightning’ fell short by just 28 runs. Now with two wins each and on 9 points, both teams need to win their remaining games to stand any chance of playing in the qualifier.
*‘Stars’ skipper Bryony Smith hit 84 runs (from 73 balls) until caught behind by Abigail Freeborn from Yvonne Graves’ bowling. 105 runs were added for ‘Stars’’ 3rd wicket when the skipper was out.

*Batting lower down the order, Aylish Cranstone saw ‘Stars’ past the 200-mark partnered by Alice Capsey (78 from 73.)
*9th wicket partnership between tail-enders Kalea Moore (39) and Emma Jones (20*) added the decisive ‘fifty’ to separate the two teams.
*’Lightning’s’ skipper Kathryn Bryce similarly hit 87 (from 115) adding 77 runs with Abigail Freeborn (24.)
*‘Lightning’’ were ahead with a faster run-rate at 71/1 after 10 ov., falling back to par 91/2 at 100 balls (16.4 ov) and below par: 134/2 by mid-way (25 overs). Thereafter, ‘Stars’ seemed confident of a win.
*Bowling her last two overs, Alice Davidson-Richards delivered 4 ‘dot’ balls for 3 runs; followed by the death over where the last serious batter Sophie Munro (17) was caught by Kalea Moore; sealing victory with 3 balls to spare. Bowling the penultimate over in between, ‘Stars’ skipper Bryony Smith removed two tail-enders who both went for single figures.
