Harlequins Women are delighted to announce that tighthead prop Shaunagh Brown has re-signed with the Club ahead of the 2021/22 Allianz Premier 15s season.
After joining Quins at the beginning of the 2016/2017 season, the front row quickly established herself as a firm fan favourite. It didn’t take long for Brown to win her first international cap as she made her England debut in 2017 against Canada.
The Red Roses international who has now featured 24 times for her country had a 2020/21 season to remember, scoring nine tries and producing a player of the match performance in the Premier 15s final as Harlequins defeated London rivals Saracens Women 25-17 at Kingsholm Stadium in Gloucester.
After putting pen to paper, Brown said: “Re-signing with Quins was a no brainer for me. It has felt like home since I arrived and is now very much my rugby home. I love being part of a club that has such high ambitions for the Women’s game, and I hope to be part of it physically now while playing, but also in the future once I’ve finished playing.
“The support I’m given off pitch to grow as an individual is second to none and I’m proud to be part of a club with a growth mindset, always pushing boundaries.”
Harlequins Women Head Coach Gerard Mullen added: “I’m delighted that Shaunagh has re-signed with the Club ahead of the new season. She is one of the best tighthead props in the world and is continuing to grow as a player each and every day. I love the energy that Shaunagh brings to the group every day. She always has a smile on her face and lifts everyone around her.
“The work that she does off the pitch, within the wider rugby community to grow the Women’s game is highly commendable. Shaunagh is a great leader within the squad we have here at Quins and is someone who drives standards every day and I’m excited to keep working with her this season.”
