Harlequins Women have announced that Simeon Barnes has joined the Club as new Forwards Coach ahead of the 2021/22 Allianz Premier 15s season.

Barnes joins Quins after spending time at London Irish RFC where he worked with the Academy ACE programme, coaching them to a national title. The new Forwards Coach has also previously spent time at Cobham RFC as Coaching Coordinator, mentoring and developing their club coaches.

Speaking after joining, Barnes said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be joining Harlequins Women. We have a great group of players here at the Club and I’m excited to get going.
Harlequins are in an excellent place and it’s great to be part of the next chapter.

“The main aim for me is to come into what is already a great environment and build strong relationships with all staff and players and make sure that the club win back-to-back Allianz Premier 15s titles.

“There is a huge amount of talent within the squad we have here at Quins with both the established international players and the younger talent who I feel we can develop into future internationals.”

Head Coach Gerard Mullen is thrilled to be able to welcome Barnes to Harlequins and can’t wait to get going as the South West London side aim to defend their Allianz Premier 15s title.

Mullen said: “I’m delighted to have Simeon on board ahead of the new season. He’s somebody who joins the Club after being highly recommended. I’m certain he will add huge value to the whole group here at Quins.

“He will add to the culture and environment we have here and I’m sure he will help take our game to the next level. It’s important for us to keep Harlequins at the forefront of the Women’s game which I’m very confident we will do.”
