Sarah Robson to remain at Durham for 21/22 season

Durham Women FC have confirmed that Sarah Robson will remain with the club for the 2021/22 season.

The midfielder joined the Wildcats prior to the 2016 season and quickly became a mainstay in the midfield.

She enjoyed a 2020/21 campaign to remember – with a fine season at club level, in which she made her 100th appearance for Durham, topped-off with qualification for a first major international tournament with Northern Ireland.

And now, with the new season approaching, Robson is relishing another big year at Maiden Castle.

“I am really excited and looking forward to another season,” she said.

“I am really grateful to be given the chance of another season with this team and I can wait to get going again.

“It will be a long season – lots of teams are now investing and going full-time, but I do think we have a great squad who can compete and beat anyone. So we look forward to the challenge.

“We all say it but we genuinely can’t wait to have the fans back.

“We missed last year how they get behind us when we are on top of games but also when we are maybe struggling.

“We have lots of very loyal supporters who help us succeed and be successful so it will be great to have them back.”

Manager Lee Sanders added: “The stats back up just how good she is and how valuable Mac is for us as one of the top players in the FA Women’s Championship.

“No opponent looks forward to playing up against her and that experience will be vital for another year with us.”
