What is happening with the Women’s 6 Nations?

‘Rugby’s Greatest Championship’ ‘Bringing you Everything’

These two statements stand at the head of the twitter account of the Women’s Six Nations Championship. The first still holds true, even in its reduced format this year. The second is untrue. A mere fortnight before kick-off basic details remain unpublished.

We have to assume that ‘Everything’ means the Welsh squad knows where it is travelling to for its fixture against France on 3 April. That’s a relief, but the rest of the world doesn’t.

As of 14.00 on 18 March neither venues nor kick-off times have been announced.

Rugby authorities have been working under huge difficulties for over a year. What they have achieved at national and international level is remarkable. But the 6N is one exception to arouse concern. What has proved difficult about finding venues for the matches? If the individual unions were concerned about staging matches, the new format would not have gone ahead. If they and the 6N office do know these details, why the silence?
