The Quins-Sarries game postponed again

When a club delays posting its side for a match for hours, these days you fear the worst

And indeed, Quins have suffered a positive test which involved other members of the club. At 4.30 pm on the eve of the long-awaited clash with Saracens, the game was postponed a second time. The first time it was Sarries who suffered the unwelcome news.

So now the gaps built into the Allianz Premier 15s schedule are coming under real strain. The next one is January 30, when Gloucester-Hartpury are due to play a rearranged match with DMP Durham Sharks.

That date is desperately close to a hoped-for start of the 2021 Six Nations campaign. If it does indeed start on the weekend of 6-7 February, then a large phalanx of players from both sides would be less likely to be available for the club fixture.

Now the question is whether the RFU will be able to perform wonders in switching their livestream to Darlington too. They have precious little time to do so. At all events the Quins-Sarries coverage is cancelled.

A sad start to the new year.
