Australia Win By Seven Wickets At Hove

  • +1

Australia Women won the second Vitality Women’s IT20 at Hove and went 12-2 up in the Women’s Ashes.

England batted first on a slow pitch and worked their way to 121-9.

Some early wickets gave them hope of defending their total – Australia at one point slipping to 35-3 – but Meg Lanning and Ellyse Perry came together to steady the ship and get the visitors over the line.

The two teams meet for the final match of the Women’s Ashes at Bristol on Wednesday.
Heather Knight: “It was the kind of pitch that you needed to build a partnership on and you wanted one player to bat through.

“It was hard to score for new batters and we would have liked a few more boundaries in the middle overs.

“We felt we could put pressure on with those three early wickets and we were in the game but we couldn’t break that partnership.”
