Fiji and Samoa win and will battle for 13th – NWC2019

  • +1

Fiji set up a re-match of the one of the most dramatic games of the tournament so far as Group E concluded today.

Fiji beat Sri Lanka 59-44 to book their place in the 13th-place play-off game, where they will take on Samoa, who beat them by a single goal earlier on in the competition.

Lydia Panapasa thought she had equalised in the last second for Fiji on that occasion, but her shot was adjudged to have been scored too late to count, meaning that Samoa triumphed 55-54

The Samoans – who by virtue of their 100% record in Group E had already secured their place in the 13th-place play-off – beat winless Singapore 63-49 in the session’s other match.

Session 11 results:

Sri Lanka 44-59 Fiji (Group E)

Singapore 49-63 Samoa (Group E)
