England beat Brazil in their SheBelieves Cup opener

The Lionesses campaign didn’t quite get the start the way they had hoped for, when Lucy Bronze was adjudged to have fouled Marta and Brazil were awarded a penalty just 16 minutes into the game.

However, the Lionesses didn’t lose heart and in the second half they upped their game and goals from Ellen White and Beth Mead gave Phil Neville’s side the win their intensity deserved.

Next up for the Lionesses is the USA on in Nashville on Saturday night (9.55pm GMT kick-off), which you can see live on BBC Two.  They will then face Japan on Tuesday.
