Red Bull Switch Up returns

One-of-a-kind netball tournament Red Bull Switch Up will take place at London’s Copper Box Arena on Saturday 17th November. This year the tournament is open to everyone, with 2 leagues to choose from. Teams can enter at RedBull.com now.

Red Bull Switch Up breaks from netball tradition, with a unique set of rules designed to provide the ultimate test of versatility. Teams of four players compete for five-minute halves on a half-court with just one goal. With no set positions – and everyone able to shoot – the game champions the ‘all round player.’ Goals from under the post will score one point, two points from inside the small shooting circle and a goal from outside the shooting circle is rewarded with three points.

The change of rules makes the game even more exciting with players needing to think on their feet and demonstrate versatility to ensure they are maximising their score. Every minute counts with teams certainly feeling the pressure from the start.

Now into its third year, 70 all-female teams can enter the Red Bull Switch Up event to showcase their skills at one of the country’s best sporting facilities. Entry will cost £60 per team (maximum six players) with vests, bibs, a match ball and refreshments provided.

Former England player and current Wasps head coach Tamsin Greenway will share her experience and coaching advice to support teams at the tournament – as well as commentating on the final.

Speaking of the competition, Tamsin Greenway said: “Red Bull Switch Up is completely unique. It provides a great challenge for players of all levels, and gives everyone a chance to play at the iconic Copper Box Arena. The rules make for a different version of the game which tests versatility and precision of the individual players who can quickly change between attack and defence”

“Fresh from England Netball’s dramatic gold medal win earlier this year, the game is more popular than ever and I’m excited to see the high standard of teams from around the country. I’m looking for a fast-paced, agile and accurate team to showcase their ability and win this year’s competition!”

Red Bull Switch Up events are being held in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and the Maldives this year.

The final of Red Bull Switch Up in London this November will be live-streamed on both England Netball and Netball Scotland’s Facebook pages.
