Saracens Women name squad to face Worcester Valkyries

  • +1

Saracens Women have named their side to face Worcester Valkyries at Allianz Park on Saturday for round twelve of the Tyrrells Premier 15s, kick off 14h00.

There are a number of changes to Rob Cain’s side as the current league leaders look to continue their fine form into 2018. Emma Uren gets her first Premier 15s start this season following a long injury layoff and is named on the wing alongside captain Lotte Clapp and Nina Vistisen in the back three. Lauren Cattell returns to the squad after an injury which forced her off in round 7 and starts at inside centre with Cara Wardle at outside centre. Helena Rowland moves from her usual centre spot into fly half to partner with the experienced Georgie Gulliver at scrum half.

Marlie Packer, who scored a double hat trick on her Sarries debut against the Valkyries earlier this season is named at open side flanker, with Bryony and Poppy Cleall at blind side flanker and No.8, completing the back row. Jude Stephenson makes her Premier 15s debut as she is called in at tight head prop alongside Kat Evans at hooker and Loz Salisbury at loose head prop. It’s a familiar pairing in the second row as Valeria Fedrighi and Sonia Green link up in the Sarries engine room.

Speaking ahead of the match, head coach Rob Cain said: “It’s great to welcome back Lauren Cattell after her injury and also to see both Emma and Jude get their first starts of the season following their recent performances in the Cup and 2XV league games.

“Worcester continue to develop each week under Roy and are a real threat when given time and space. We want to start the new year well by continuing to progress, aspiring to hit our aims and keep developing our game as we start to turn the corner towards the business end of the season.”
