Featherstone Lionesses have terrific first season

  • +1

The Featherstone Lionesses have had a terrific first season and there is much more to come…

The Lionesses U16s have had a fantastic first EVER season in the U16s Division One, which has seen the girls play at Featherstone Rovers LD Nutrition Stadium and at Widnes Select Stadium in front of big crowds.

For a new team to the league the girls have done fantastically well, firstly in being moved into Division 1 with teams that have been playing together for some time, and they did not disappoint by more than holding their own.

The Lionesses have had 7 girls picked to play for Central Yorkshire this season which is a great achievement for the girls, the team and for Featherstone Lions Club.

They have also had 2 girls go on to play in the first ever Women’s Super League for Castleford Tigers, and a number of the girls have been in the Tigers’ Development Squad.  Again a great achievement for the girls and the club.

Because of this incredibly successful season, the Club are going to be running an U14s next season, so the future of girls’ rugby league in Featherstone is looking very bright.
