Women’s Rugby League round up 1 October

On Sunday Thatto Heath St Helens hosted Featherstone Rovers Ladies in the semi final of the Women’s Super League. The game certainly lived up to its billing, a nail biter with, 20-20 at the end of full time with the match being decided by a golden point drop goal in extra time. Thatto Heath 20 Featherstone Rovers 21.

Featherstone’s produced a superb performance, Kayleigh Bulman crossed for two tries. Further tries were scored by Sarah Dunn and Sinead Peach. Georgia Roche added two goals.

Thatto were trailing 6-16 at half time but battled there way back to level the scores with a great second half. Thatto’s Tara Stanley, Rebecca Rotherham, Faye Gaskin and Chantelle Crowl all scored once each. Tara Stanley added two goals.

With the game going into extra time it was Featherstone’s Andrea Dobson who produced the match winning play, a brilliant field goal giving Featherstone the win and a place in the final next weekend.

In the Women’s Championship semi final Oulton Raidettes hosted Wigan St Patrick’s and in another nail biter it was Oulton who booked their place in the final winning 12-10. Oulton’s Reagan Walker scored twice with Frankie Townend adding both goals. Wigan’s Emily Bagley and Emma Dwyer both scored and Charlotte Foley kicked one goal.

In the other Semi Final Stanningley hosted Leigh Miners and the home side impressed throughout to win 60-4.
