Women’s Weekly Round up 25th June – by Rebecca Bird
On Sunday the Semi Finals of the North West County Cup took place. In the first one Wigan St Patricks hosted Leigh Miners Rangers and the home side dominated throughout to book their place in the final with a 50-6 win.
Wigan’s Sarah Harrison scored twice and there was one try each for Robyn Bircham, Rachel Porter, Gemma Hennesey, Charlotte Foley, Holly Speakman, Lucy Bassley and Jess Hopkins. Charlotte Foley added seven goals.
Leigh Miners try was scored by Detysha Harper and converted by Dawn Eaton.
In the other semi final Thatto Heath St Helens Reserves hosted Barrow Ladies and it was another big win for the home side enabling them to sail into the final with a 44-4 win.
Alex Simpson and Charlotte Hill both scored hat-tricks and Jade Ward scored twice. Rebecca Rotherham and Pip Birchall both scored one each. Naomi Williams and Alex Simpson both scored one goal each.
Barrow’s try was scored by Safin Clay.
