Newcomers to top- flight football, Yeovil Town Ladies FC began their Women’s Super League 1 Spring Series campaign against Liverpool Ladies last Sunday (April 23rd) at Huish Park. This was an historic occasion for all involved as it was the club’s WSL 1 debut and their first match back at Huish Park since being crowned WSL 2 champions back in November.

The day was an enormous success with over two-hundred and thirty girls from local football clubs taking part in a pre-match football festival and an astonishing one thousand-eight-hundred and ninety-seven fans attended to cheer on and support The Lady Glover’s as they took on the previous WSL 1 Champions.

Yeovil Town Ladies are taking their remaining Spring Series home matches on the road to try and engage with new fans across various parts of Somerset, with three of the games being hosted by Taunton Town FC and the final game at Bridgwater Town FC.

The Viridor Stadium, Taunton Town FC will be showcasing two exciting matches in a space of four days, welcoming Bristol City Women and Arsenal Ladies. The green and white’s derby team, Bristol City Women are to play Yeovil Town Ladies on the evening of Wednesday 3rd of May (7pm kick- off). Bristol City Women were runners up of Women’s Super League 2 and gained promotion to the highest level. Both teams met three times last season with the The Lady Glover’s gaining victory on two of the occasions.

The following match sees the mighty Arsenal Ladies visit Somerset on Sunday 7th May (2pm kick- off). The Lady Gunners are arguably the most successful Women’s football team in the world having won 46 trophies in their 30- year history.
