Women’s 6 Nations attracts record audience

The Women’s Six Nations Championship has attracted record live TV and streaming audiences across the six countries in the first two weekends with over 2.2 million viewers following the matches.  The Women’s Championship also has for the first time all 15 matches broadcast in 100 countries around the World.

In addition highlights programmes on the BBC in the UK and RTE in Ireland have attracted a further 900,000 viewers over the first two weekends.

The Women’s Six Nations now also boasts a number of dedicated digital channels with record numbers visiting the website as well as a strong audience on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

John Feehan, Chief Executive of Six Nations Rugby said:  “We are delighted with the level of interest shown in the Women’s Six Nations Championship.  This is an exciting start to the Championship and we expect this huge growth to continue right until the end of the Championship and beyond.

“It is the first time in the history of the Six Nations Women’s Championship that all 15 matches are produced and broadcast live and to a high quality TV standard.”
