Wales international/forward Melissa Fletcher signed a full-time professional contract with the Royals until June 2018.

Fletcher, a chartered accountant, had been balancing a career in football with a part-time accountancy role with Ernst & Young and has now decided to dedicate her time entirely to professional football.

On signing her first ever professional contract Fletcher said “I’m really pleased to have signed a new contract with Reading Women FC.

“I’ve been a part of this club since I was 8 years old and have seen it develop into the club that it is today. I couldn’t be happier to have extended my time here and I look forward to the challenges that the new season will bring”.

Manager Kelly Chambers: “Fletch is one of our longest serving players so it’s great for her to be able to turn professional with us and be in full-time with the group. She’s a player who has many desirable qualities including an eye for goal. When she started with us she would never have envisaged the women’s game turning professional, let alone it doing so while she still has a career in football; it shows how far we have come in such a short space of time!”.
