Becky Salicki staying with Durham for next season

  • +1
Durham Women FC have announced that defender Becky Salicki has agreed to stay at New Ferens Park.
Salicki arrived at the club last season having missed a large amount of football through injury, but shook off these previous setbacks and made her return to action in the FA Cup tie against Charlton Athletic.
From here on she became a regular in the first-team, not missing a league game and netting once in the home victory over Aston Villa.
And now the centre back has agreed to stay at the club into 2017 as the Wildcats look to build on a record-breaking season.
Speaking after committing her future to Durham Women, Salicki said: “I can’t wait for next season.
“Last year was really good and gave me my confidence in football back.
“I love the team, the club, the girls and everyone involved here so I can’t wait to get started next year.”
Manager Lee Sanders added: “Becky came in and did an outstanding job at centre back last season after a couple of years of being mainly out of the game through injury.
“I’ve said this about quite a number of players but she’s a really great person off the field.
“She works tremendously hard in training, is ultra-committed and has bought into what we want to do at the club.
“I can see her having a very long future at the football club and I know she’s only going to improve and add to the leaders that we’ve already got here.
“I’m delighted she’s going to be with us again next year.”
