Storm to host Stars on VNSL opening weekend

  • +1

Former Surrey Storm and England shooter Pamela Cookey will make a welcome return to Surrey Sports Park on Saturday 18th February with her Severn Stars side to kick off Storm’s title defence in the 2017 Vitality Netball Superleague season.

Stars are one of three new teams to feature in the Superleague from next season, with Coventry-based Wasps and Glasgow’s Scottish Sirens also joining the line-up.

Following the success of the 2016 event in Birmingham Storm head back to the Genting Arena for this season’s edition of the ‘Super 10’ event in round 2, this time facing arch rivals Manchester Thunder in a 6pm centre-pass.

Round 4 sees the return of the twice sold-out Netball London Live extravaganza, with Storm and Hertfordshire Mavericks once again going head-to-head at the Copper Box Arena on Saturday 11th March (6pm centre-pass).

One of the season’s most anticipated fixtures comes on Saturday 1st April (7pm centre-pass), when Tamsin Greenway brings her Wasps outfit to the Sports Park for a showdown with a plethora of former Storm stars in their squad.

Storm head north for the reverse fixture against Thunder on Saturday 15th April (5pm centre-pass), before round 12 sees a return to the capital to face Hertfordshire Mavericks on Saturday 29th April (6pm centre-pass).

The final round of the season will see Storm travel to Loughborough Lightning on Saturday 3rd June (6pm centre-pass), with one eye on the centrally-hosted finals weekend on June 10th and 11th.
