As the end of the Yorkshire Girls RL under 16s season draws near, all attention will turn to a new, innovative representative programme.
The games, designed to offer players across all clubs a higher level of competition, will see two new Area Teams created both of whom will play the undefeated Batley Bulldogs Girls.
“We held a very well-attended open-access development day in September to start the second phase of 2016 fixtures,” said Competition Manager, Jim Shuttleworth.
“After this, the club games took place, coaches were appointed and the selection process will now begin.
“The best aspect about these games are that they will be run entirely by the same coaches involved at club level every week. We hope it provides as much development for coaches as for players and helps to strengthen the league itself.”
The two teams will be split along geographical lines with teams in Leeds and Wakefield joining together to create Central Yorkshire Girls and sides from Calderdale, Bradford and Kirklees creating Yorkshire West Girls.
Both teams will attempt to impose the first domestic defeat over Batley Bulldogs Girls in two eagerly anticipated games.
Dewsbury Moor’s Shane Hussein (Yorkshire West) and Matty Bullough of Oulton Raidettes (Central Yorkshire) have been appointed as coaches for the series which will take place in November.
