Doncaster Rovers Belles are excited to announce the signing of midfielder Marta Bakowska-Mathews.

After impressing during a short trial with the club, midfielder Marta becomes Emma Coates’ third signing since taking over the role of Belles manager.

Originally from England, Marta arrives from Canada via Florida State University (FSU) where she studied before joining Coates’ side.

Whilst at FSU, Bakowska-Mathews won a National Championship and three ACC Championships.

Subject to international clearance, the 23-year-old could also be available for Sunday’s Continental Tyres Cup clash with Sunderland Ladies.

Excited about her new challenge, Marta said: “It feels unbelievable.

“I am so excited to have found a place where I can start my professional career at the same time as finding a new family away from home that I can do this with.

“I found the staff are very professional and have a lot of depth and experience. The facilities are really great and, having watched a game, I saw that the team played well together and had an abundance of potential.

“But most importantly, the team was extremely welcoming and friendly allowing me to transition well into it.

“Hopefully I can help the team move up the table and earn points every week and go on to fulfil my potential.”
