Finally the WSL is back!

  • +1

It seemed that the The FA Women’s Super League (FA WSL) had barely got started when it went into its mid-season break – this weekend it is back!

Arsenal host Sunderland at Boreham Wood FC on Saturday (2pm KO) in the first game of the weekend’s action, while Bristol City take on Oxford United at the Stoke Gifford stadium in the opening FA WSL 2 fixture (6pm KO).

On Sunday FA WSL 1 league leaders Manchester City will play Liverpool (2pm KO) and Doncaster Rovers Belles travel to Notts County (2pm KO) as they look to pick up their first points of the season.

In FA WSL 2, third-place Durham host top of the table Yeovil Town (12pm KO), Aston Villa welcome London Bees (2pm KO) and Watford will look to move away from the bottom of the table as they host second-place Everton (2pm KO).

FA head of women’s leagues and competitions, Katie Brazier, said: “The league got off to a great start in the first half of the season, with increased attendances and some excellent games, and there is all to play for across both divisions.

“Our clubs are doing excellent work to grow their fan bases and develop their teams and I’m sure that our attendances will continue to increase across the rest of the season.”

For the remainder of the FA WSL season, the league will continue to be played under the 2015-16 Laws of the Game, to ensure that the entire competition season is played under the same laws.

The law changes implemented by the International Football Association Board (IFAB) for season 2016-17 will be introduced for the 2017 FA WSL season.
